What We Do
Options deliver a number of programs:
Rediscover – Our foundation program aimed at building confidence and raising self esteem among our participants. Consists of 8 x 2 hour sessions delivered as often as you want. Rediscover allows time for you away from the stresses of day to day life and to talk about things that affect you and your relationships. We cover raising self esteem and building confidence, recognising and managing stress, becoming more assertive and recognising and acknowledging the skills and qualities you have.
Restart – This program is aimed at the most economically inactive. The program aims to get participants “work ready” through a series of individual and group learning activities. This is an interactive program and can involve the use of multi media to work on communication skills and confidence.
Community Engagement – Options has written for and worked with several Commuinities First Partnerships across South Wales. We have been involved with community engagement work, working in the heart of communities alongside residents.
Some of the work we’ve done includes:
- An extensive community engagement exercise in one of South Wales’s deprived valleys assessing the attitudes of residents to moving on with their life. This led to several Options programs being delivered in local schools and community halls.
- Delivery of Options ReDiscover program to a group of women in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.
- Equality and Diversity workshops with the residents and staff of several C1st partnerships.
- Delivery of a Healthy Lifestyles program to a group of residents in a C1st area of Carmarthenshire covering self image, nutrition and physical exercise and stress management. This was also delivered on site to a group of Gypsy and Travelling women in Carmarthenshire.
- Delivery of ReDiscover and We Mean Business to several BME groups in Carmarthenshire leading to a feasibility study of a Multi Cultural Centre and a Women’s Centre.
- Delivery of a Stress Management workshop to a group of local authority housing residents in a C1st area in Carmarthenshire who were at risk of eviction.
We Mean Business – This looks at the viability of a Social Enterprise that our participants have identified a need for. It’s an 8 week program covering the responsibilities and legalities of setting up a social enterprise, market research, raising finance and accessing grants and enables participants to develop a Business Plan and Financial Forecast.
